Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cupcake mix (plus ingredients as directed on the package)
  • White frosting
  • Black licorice (cut into 3-inch sections)
  • Candy corn (for fangs)
  • Red hot candies (for eyes)
  • Decorative sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare chocolate cupcakes according to package instructions and let them cool completely.
  2. Cut black licorice into 3-inch segments.
  3. Frost each cupcake generously with white frosting, working on one or two at a time to prevent the frosting from setting.
  4. Insert three pieces of licorice on each side of the cupcake to form spider legs.
  5. Place two pieces of candy corn at the front of each cupcake for fangs and add two red hot candies as eyes on top of the frosting.
  6. Sprinkle with decorative sugar if desired to add an extra spooky effect.
  7. Repeat with the remaining cupcakes.
